Built from a passion for adventure, cycling and the outdoors; Apidura is driving the evolution in ultra-light cycling and opening up a new world of riding possibilities for passionate cyclists. Their ultralight rackless packing systems have been a hit in their ever growing community, and are lauded for enabling cyclists to travel farther, faster and more comfortably. I’ve worked with Apidura since 2012, helping them develop a powerful WordPress-based eCommerce website. In 2018 I was approached by Apidura to help redesign their frontend and re-launch their growing journal in a more editorial style. While the previous website I had built for them (2012) was beautiful, their growth as a company clearly called for a more minimal, modular, content-driven design. Since it's launch the new site has not only boosted sales, but ushered in a new era of Apidura's online presence. Their journal is incredibly popular amongst the bike packing community, garnering recognition from around the world for their contribution to bikepacking culture.
What we did
A responsive, modern design that relies on beautiful photography and clean typography
Culture is as important to Apidura as sales. For this reason we minimized the sales pressure on the home page. We instead created a mix of informative content that balances their goals as a company and community.
An important community resource
The new Apidura website is functionally two sites in one, the first being the Journal. This online editorial is a fundamental part of what Apidura is trying to accomplish within the fast-growing bikepacking community. We aimed at making it easy for Apidura's staff and ambassadors to educate, inspire, guide, and advertise new bikepacking events around the world.
With a range of different packing systems at different price levels, we aimed at making it easy for a user to identify the products that best suited their needs and bike dimensions. Product pages needed to remain clean while still providing an in-depth look at the technologies and product specs.
